Albion Philosophy

As a financial firm we gather facts, analyze the numbers and work through relevant ratios to understand all pertinent information relating to an issue. However, this is just the beginning. The real challenge, and the place where we as advisors can truly make a difference, is in the assumptions.

When analyzing a company we speak with their competitors, suppliers, and customers. We review the prospects for their industry. We look to see what the trade press thinks. We study known competitive threats, and more importantly ponder potential unknown threats that could be damaging to the company's future performance. Then we must make assumptions.

Will management be able to respond to the changing business environment? Will a resurgence of inflation damage their business model? Is their current growth rate sustainable? If so, for how long? These are the difficult questions that must be answered.

Our research into a company's financial information and industry are backward looking measures. It is the assumptions about the future, and the accuracy of those assumptions, that will result in rising stock prices and an increase in our clients' net worth.

Assumptions also help us control risk. Risk is the danger of events not unfolding as planned. By doing our best to understand the future and closely monitoring businesses for deviations from our expectations, we can help minimize adverse outcomes.

Our philosophy is to know the hard numbers thoroughly while focusing most of our energies on the all-important assumptions.

Investment Management Philosophy

Albion applies a thoughtful blend of company-specific research, macroeconomic analysis, and global trend identification to seek out companies and industries that are most likely to prosper in the years ahead. Our consistent approach includes the discipline and courage to adjust to changing market conditions. We look at our balances in the context of current and future economic environment from two perspectives: return potential and risk exposure.

Over time the only consistent correlation in equity investing is that consistently growing earnings leads to an appreciating stock price. Our equity research is directed toward uncovering those companies where there is a high likelihood of consistent earnings growth. We invest in sufficient stocks to allow for adequate diversification to reduce volatility, yet few enough stocks to be sure client portfolios benefit from our research efforts.

Perhaps the most critical decision we must make on behalf of each client is in regard to his or her overall asset allocation. We regularly review each portfolio's balance of stocks, fixed income and cash. Furthermore, we routinely scrutinize the mix of positions within each asset class.

Financial Advising Philosophy

The professionals at Albion Financial Group are well versed in the discipline of financial planning. We understand the mathematics, the tax implications, and the regulatory and legal environment. These skills provide the foundation for the core of our financial advising process. We add tremendous value for our clients by helping them understand the assumptions that must be made, the sensitivity the specific plan has to these assumptions, and the appropriate assumptions to use as we create a plan for their future.

Financial advising is about mathematics and emotion. The mathematics, though occasionally complex, are straightforward. However the emotional component is often not so clear, but is equally important. Every client must be comfortable with their plan if they wish it to be implemented and followed to success.

Therefore, the core of our planning philosophy is to use our tools, knowledge and experience to help all our clients achieve the goals they value most, maximizing the likelihood that each client will achieve financial stability. We approach each client with an open mind, listen to the client's needs, and then advise within the client's individualized context.
