Our Story

In the summer of 1982 Toby Levitt and John Bird found themselves discussing the problems with the state of available financial advice. This was the era of tax sheltered limited partnerships, sales loads on mutual fund shares, and burdensome sales commissions on securities transactions. Albion’s founders could not accept that “investment advice” was centered around product sales, and the measure of industry success was not how well clients did but how much financial agents sold. Rather than just talk about it they decided to take action and Albion was formed; a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor, dedicated to putting client interests first.

From the beginning Albion has believed they need to know and understand a clients’ financial situation as a prerequisite to investing the first dollar. It was essential, they felt, to have a context in which to make financial decisions. Little did they know that they had backed in to being among the first practitioners of a budding profession; providing integrated, client specific financial advice with no product sales agenda.

From these modest beginnings Albion has grown to be a leading fee-only investment manager and wealth advisor. But as the firm has grown and success has become apparent they have never lost sight of their foundational belief: the client interests come first. Always.

Our Style

At Albion we believe in the power of the team and the power of positive relationships. We have seen time and time again that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Our environment allows the best ideas and processes to rise to the top for the benefit of all of our clients. All aspects of what we do challenge us to rise to the next level in our thinking and analysis, and through this we create better outcomes than any single one of us could alone.

In addition we work closely with your other professionals, whether it be your Attorney, CPA, or mortgage broker, you end up with a more cohesive worry free outcome than if you had to work with each of us individually.

When we explore an investment opportunity or the structure of a portfolio from a variety of viewpoints and synthesize the best of each one, our clients end up with a better outcome.

As we look at the myriad aspects of a family financial situation, as puzzle pieces belonging to a unified whole rather than as discreet issues to be resolved, our clients end up with a stronger and more integrated financial situation.

In each of our lives there are many interconnected financial issues, many of which we tend to push to the back burner, whether it involves reassessing an investment allocation as we age or updating our estate planning documents. Our efforts are directed toward helping our clients stay on top of each of these issues with the end result of allowing each client to rest easy in the knowledge that their financial concerns have been identified and attended to.
